Hi all,

I am having some trouble with my qmail installation.
I am running RedHat 8.0 with qmail 1.03 delivering to maildirs.
There exists about 30 users on the server, all users have their own homedir in
which resides the Maildir folder which were setup automatically when the users
were added by usin maildirmake to create a maildir in /etc/skel, so as far as i
can tell premisions are correct.

drwx------ 3 architects-mo architects-mo 4096 Oct 25 19:44 architects-mo
under users home dir
drwx------ 5 architects-mo architects-mo 4096 Oct 25 19:44 Maildir
and under Maildir
drwx------ 2 architects-mo architects-mo 4096 Oct 25 19:44 cur
drwx------ 2 architects-mo architects-mo 4096 Nov 8 10:15 new
drwx------ 2 architects-mo architects-mo 4096 Nov 8 10:15 tmp

The problem is specific to a group of users for which an email arriving to one
address(that does not have a home dir, maildir etc) but that has .qmail entry
in /var/qmail/alias, is distributed to 12 users that do have a homedir and
Maildir.
For a while this method behaved as it should have:

***@xxxxxxxxx
etc etc for the remainder of the users listed in the /var/qmail/alias/.qmail-
architects file.

But just recently qmail began to spit out the following errors
@400000003fa7920228194fec starting delivery 1305: msg 97640 to local architects-
***@xxxxxxxxxxx
@400000003fa79202281957bc status: local 2/10 remote 0/20

@400000003fa7921f011b39dc delivery 1306: deferral:
Temporary_error_on_maildir_delivery._(#4.3.0)/
From what the logs say this is only happening when the first 10 local delivery
threads are taken and delivered to the first 10 users listed in the .qmail-
architects file and are reported as delivered ok, but then when qmail uses the
next 3 local delivery threads to deliver to the 3 remaining users it spits the
dummy.
So i light of this is it possible to enable more local delivery threads in
qmail-send?

I have read into this on the qmail mailing list a can not see any reason why
this is happening,
there are defiantly no quotas enabled
the /home partition has approx 700Mb of free space available
Any help with this question would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

William Ey

And who are the real users on the system, and what .qmail files do
they have? Are there any virtual domains involved in this?
